I actually like the idea that they're small and have a growth plan that's more focused on sustainable growth as opposed to meteoric growth. They have another Phenom 300 being delivered before the end of the year which I've been told will be based in Texas. I liken it to the Southwest Airlines business model. Focus on what you do well, charge a fair price and don't over-extend your resources. Seems to work very well for Southwest. I don't see why it can't work in the fractional world.
They also seem to charge a reasonable amount for the operation of their fleet, meaning they aren't losing money on the operations and trying to make it up on share sales or selling their soul via jet cards.

Does anyone have any experience negotiating with Flight Options? Any areas they are flexible on or incentives to be had? Thanks.

On 1/16th Flight Options gave 5 annual short leg waivers, 3 guaranteed upgrades per year at no extra charge, and simultaneous use for 2 jets. Plus 8 hour call out except peak days. Planes are showing age. 400NXT's were grounded last week, the older 400XP I got instead couldn't make PBI-TEB non stop due "bad weather in NY".

Flight Options has built their business on used airplanes. The average age of their fleet is over 10 years old. The 400 NXT is still a 15 year old airframe with tons of hours/cycles on them. They have replaced some of the parts, but it's still far from a new aircraft. Giving you upgrades, short leg waivers, etc. are all well and good, but in reality do you receive them when requested? I'm truly asking. I don't have any actual experience with Flight Options, but I've spoken with many who aren't pleased withe their service or their repurchase provisions.

Why were the 400 NXTs grounded, if anyone knows?

Someone is checking into the accuracy of the XT groundings (fleet vs individual plane) as well as the reason. As soon as I know I will post

I'd love to know about the XT groundings as well, as that's the plane I'm considering. It's performance looks great. As for it being "used", the frame certainly is, but my understanding is that 88% of the plane is new and that any part that "expires" or is time controlled has been replaced with new parts. And re the grounding, while potentially troublesome, unlike Avantair at least FO has other aircraft to provide. Oldjoe, please send me a private message with how I can contact you and we can chat personally. Thanks.

Spoke with source at flight options and they were adamant that the grounding of the XT is pure rumor

I sent the claim of the 400NXT grounding to the Flight Options sale person I've been talking with - it does appear to be a total rumor - he had two or three clients who had flown on the NXT400 last week.
There are weaknesses in the totally anonymous nature of the internet. But there are strengths as well.

Checked with several very reliable sources and there's no truth to the NXT being grounded.

I find it ironic that one of the premier arguments not to go with xyz provider is that they are too expensive. You've already been burned on your asset being seized/worthless but you don't want to pay to ensure the same experience doesn't happen again.

Amen on that. I bit the bullet and bought a 25 hour NetJets card on a Hawker 400. They did give me 2 extra hours so 27 total, and you can message me and I will tell you how to get those hours. Plus they let you upgrade to an Excel for free with 5 of those hours. They are phasing out the Hawker so the majority of the time they will send you something nicer anyway. It's expensive BUT at least I know my money is safe with Warren Buffett.
