Good God! You cannot go around having your mechanics pulling parts off someone's else's airplane, even if it is your part, without permission of the airplane owner. Can you imagine the liability issues here? the mechanics pulling this crap could, and should, lose their licenses in a heartbeat.

Hmmm. Pulling parts off someone elses airplane without their permission . . . That is EXACTLY what led to the final demise. And is a major source of angst among many owners. I do recall signs posted at a local field saying that tampering with aircraft is a Federal crime and will be investigated by the FBI.
This just gets better every day.

If i were an owner of 131 i would probably call the field office in HOU and see what THEY have to say. I bet they're drinking coffee at millionair by noon.

Fractional owners. You should now this is the work of a handful of pilots. They are the same ones who made up a bunch of lies to get their Union in. They went on a full on smut and lies campaign. They create websites so that the people they smear can't defend themselves with the truth. this is how they did it before and this is just more of the same. The old union card hey steve or david nice to have you join in the conversation, judging from the lack of spelling errors it can't be kevin, whoever it is you're so far off it's pathetic ! the only lies around here are from the sociopath pathological liar STEVE ! everyone knows that, come on now don't insult everyone's intelligence ...

I'm not sure about components, but I know the repo man doesn't need owners permission to repo an aircraft. I would assume the same goes for engines, props, etc.

It only takes the first one to start the daisy chain of repossession of aircraft parts. So now 131 owners have to go find their engines, and so on and so on....

Somehow I doubt the owners of 131 will get near the support HF got. I'm thinking HF will get what he needs and the rest will just be screwed. His planes and records are already pulled. Having the records is how he found the engines I'd wager.

There is no comparison between legally repossessing an aircraft and removing parts from an aircraft.
In the first case the repossessor has legal right to the aircraft and presumably has insurance in place for the flight. No maintenance or log book entries are required.
In removing parts the maintenance action must be documented in the aircraft records per the Federal Aircraft Regulations (FARs) just for starters. Then there is the liability accrued if removal of the part causes damage to the airframe or even an accident at a later date.
If I were an FBO and had one of these aircraft in my custody at this point I would not let anyone near it without the local Sherrif being present and giving the OK.
